M is for Mixed Media over at Scrapology

We are scraplifting our very own design team member LINDA this month by creating a page using many different mediums together on one layout.
I REALLY enjoyed playing with this page and adding all the various layers of paint, mists, webbing spray etc

We started off with a 12 x 12" peice of greyboard, which was painted with Gesso.

I then used a harlequin mask and some Sparkle Medium in Turquoise ( thanks Linda)......
and then just went wild with Cosmic Shimmer Sprays, some sprayed, some dribbled....silver webbing spray, large chuck glitter flakes, sequins, crystals, blossoms, buttons and headed pins. I also added some denim and organza scraps.....gosh I DID enjoy all the mess and sparkle.....and discovered in the process of creating this peice....that a little really DOES go a long way.....a LONG LONG way....but it doesn;t matter does it....because everyone likes a bit of sparkle in their lives ;)

The photo is of my 2 gorgeous girls, taken in the springtime in 2011, at Abbots Wood, when we were out on a walk looking at the Bluebells.

If you pop over to Scrapology you can see all the beautiful designs that the DT came up with, they truly are stunning.....and each so very different! We would LOVE to see you enter this months challenge....you have plenty of time to join in the fun and get messy/sparkly/inky/shimmery :D. Warmest wishes ANita xx

Someone to love...is family. January Scrapology Challenge

Yay.....I have had a little visit from my vacant mojo fairy( she cleared off months ago :( ). So I made this layout for our January challenge over at Scrapology
The theme is T is for tags and we have lifted a fabby layout by Elaine Rolf.
I used up scrips and scraps of paper left overs from other layouts....some Bo Bunny Timepeice and some Simple Stories Generations, based on a sheet of Kraft Bazill.

I inked, spritzed, distress stickled, shimmer sprayed and stamped and made some fabric flowers. I used my SU doily stamps ( had them for some time and not yet used them!!) and I made the tags from some un-used Christmas gift tags and used the reverse of them

This month we are using tags on our layouts and following a sketch ( shown below) . We have been lucky enough to lift this lovely layout by Elaine Rolf , you can see more of her super work by clicking on her name and visiting her blog.

So why not pop over to Scrapology and see all the super layouts from the lovely DT girls and our guest member for this month.
We hope you will join in the fun and enter the challenge by creating a layout using the sketch and some Tags.

N is for Netting! Scrapology August Challenge

This month at Scrapology we have the pleasure of lifting a wonderful page by Toni AKA 2 Dogs, you can visit her inspirational blog here

Here is my DT offering for this month.
I chose to scrap this photo of Lauren, taken by a friend whilst she was on holiday in Italy with her Year 10 schoolfriends. It was on a day trip into Verona, where they saw several street entertainers amongst other things. She had a super holiday( her first time abroad!!) and I really must get round to scrapping more photos of it for her.

I used a sheet of MME Madison Avenue "Happily ever after" and added a doily, which I misted with 2 colours of Cosmic Shimmers. I also die cut some hinges which I painted gold and heat embossed with clear UTEE, then added butterflies and blossoms( I saw this sort of idea some time ago online but sadly cannot remember where to be able to credit them :( ). I frilled up a long strip of netting and placed behind the photo and also made a flower using the tulle netting too.

I also created 2 flowers using pink organza circles that I singed the edges of with a tealight and popped a gem in the centre. The title was die cut, I popped on a couple of organza bows and then I liberally splashed about some pink Stickles in various places to finish the page off.

Here is Toni's original lovely layout that inspired us...........

And here is the sketch we worked from.

PRIZE TIME
Jill at Cardinal Colours has come up with another fabulous prize this month.
A4 pieces of textured netting, 2 each of yellow, orange, pink and purple and Liquid Pearls in Rouge. Royal Blue, Cantaloupe, Majestic Purple and Baby Blue. ( Thank you so much for your generosity once again Jill xxx)

Would love to see you enter the challenge by creating a layout using the sketch and some netting please.

May at Scrapology.....C is for Charms.

This month ,over at Scrapology,  the DT are scraplifting the work of Karola Witczak  (she is a member of the Prima design team and her work is always beautiful).  Our challenge was to use charms on our layouts and also follow the sketch provided.

Here is my entry for the DT this month. I desaturated the photo of Lauren, I really liked the soft, vintagey effect it gave. This gave me chance to play a little with my new Prima Brickwork stamp too.
I used an earring, a brooch and some charms from a bracelet to decorate the page a little, coloured the flower band with Cosmic Shimmer Mists.

I made both of the voile flowers, one was just a gathered strip with a fancy charm sewn into the middle. The other was voile which was die cut using the Tattered Floral die and then I singed the egdes over a tea light. Then popped some pearls and Stickles in the centre  after layering a few petals together.
Here is the sketch and the original layout of Karola's that totally inspired us.

We would love to see you enter the challenge for May....

Tiny Dancer *Prima Fairy Belle*

OK, I am officially IN LOVE with this range of papers from Prima!!! which is bizarre to say the least as I am really NOT a fairy kinda girl, but I really REALLY have fallen for these ones.
And I just knew straight away that I had to scrap these pics of Chloe, when she was just a little herbert bless her. She used to go and watch Lauren at her ballet class and was desperate to go to classes too but they would not allow little ones to start until they were 3! So a few days after her 3rd birthday she was raring to go and I took a few shots of her....just look at those precious little feet....so teeny awwww. This is one of the layouts I made at our recent Blossom Retreat.
I used a REALLY old sheet of Basic Grey Vagabond 'Vintage Paisley' and then a torn edged sheet of Prima Fairy Belle En Pointe which I sewed onto the BG sheet.

I used some silver glitter AC Thickers for the title and changed the colour by gently dabbing with various colours of Alcohol inks.
I also used some teeny alpha stickers.

The chipboard flourish is by Dusty Attic and I sprayed it with Cosmic Shimmer Mist and added a few little sparkles with Crystal Stickles.
I printed out some butterflies from Swirlydoos and used Stickles Rock Candy and Icicle to decorate them and also the fairy.

The flower was made from chiffon and I singed the edges, then added Stickles and crystals. I used a MS deep edge punch which I also sprayed with Cosmic Shimmer Mist. I used various little blossoms that were originally white, but I sprayed them with the mists too so they co-ordinated with the page.

I really enjoyed making this page so much and it was lovely to use some of my older photos that were taken before I had a digital camera.
I have DEFINATELY got to get myself some more of the Prima Fairy papers though....watch this space!

L is for Lace...April at Scrapology.

Be it paper or fabric, over at Scrapology, the DT challenge you to use lace on your layout. This month we are scraplifting a beautiful layout called 'Cherished Memories' by BettyLou1 from Scrapbook.com

Here is my DT offering for this one. I used papers from 7Dots Studio, doily stamps from Stampin Up, stickers from Echo Park, some glitter card for the photo mat, a variety of blossoms and some seed beads.

The beady swirl actually ended up a lot thicker than I wanted :(. I dribbled a swirl of Tacky Glue and dribbled the seed beads onto it, it just decided to spread out a bit LOL. I then sprinkled on some irridescent glitter for a little extra sparkle.

I couldn't decide whether to use paper or fabric lace, so ended up using both! I punched out some paper lace using a MS punch and then took some cream Broderie Anglais lace and sprayed it with various Cosmic Shimmer Mists.

This is the original, beautiful layout by BettyLou1, so pretty isn't it!

And here is the sketch we all worked from and is the one we would like you to use if you decide to play along with us.

As always, we have been very spoilt by Jill from Cardinal Colours, she has once again donated a fabulous prize for the winner. Its Core Impressions -Vintage Brights Collection.

Vintage Brights is an Exclusive collection of Jenni Bowlin Studios designs embossed on Core’dinations, the only sandable Colour Core Cardstock. The Vintage Brights Collection is the perfect compliment to the JBS Front Porch and Tangerine Dream lines. The assorted pack consists of four embossed patterns in five colours totalling 20, 12" x 12" sheets.
What a fab prize!
So, all you have to do is create a layout, using our sketch and some lace on your page....and you have until the 5th May.

Warmest wishes Anita xx

November with Scrapology...F is for Fabric Flowers

This month over at Scrapology we have chosen to lift a lovely layout by Hannah Young, please go and enjoy a visit round her blog Handmade Hannah

Here is my contribution to the DT. I used papers from Prima and scrapped the photo of our eldest, taken at an awards night ceremony.

*** I know the layout looks really crooked round the edges.....but its not....honest!! ***

The flowers are made from some satiny type fabric, I sprayed the flowers and the doily with some Cosmic Shimmer spray. I die cut some sprays of leaves and also added some crystals. I also printed out some butterflies, Stickled them and then totally coated with a thick layer of Glossy Accents, which then dried and they look almost ceramic.

I took a 2nd sheet of the same background paper, cut out the little girl and the balloons and then raised them up on foam pads. I added some Stickles, Liquid Pearls and then, when dry, I coated them with Glossy Accents.

This is the sketch that we worked from

And this is the original layout created by Hannah.

If you would like to play along with this challenge then you have until Dec 5th to create and upload, we ask that you create flowers from fabric, lace or ribbon and that you also work from the sketch above please :)
Really hope you are inspired to enter....as always there will be a super prize to be won.
Warmest wishes Anita..xxx

Scrapology July Challenge - M is for Masks.

This month over at Scrapology we are using masks on our pages and have chosen to lift a lovely layout by a lady called Liz Qualman

Here is my DT page for July, the photo is of my 2 girlies having fun on the beach at our summer holiday a couple of years ago :). I have used a mix of papers, Fancy Pants, Creative Imaginations and WeRMemory Keepers and also some WRMK Gletter brads and chippie embellishments.

I created my own masks by punching out strips using a Martha Stewart deep edge trellis punch and this created the outer frame. I then cut out a large circle and used a Martha Stewart corner punch to create the pattern round the edge, I then gutted the centre. After placing the masks in my chosen place I used 2 different Cosmic Shimmer Mists and sprayed the page, then when dry I removed the masks. It was really nice actually making it from scratch and just goes to prove you do not always have to pay out for manufactured and often expensive items.

I added some chipboard embellies, raffia mesh and the brads, which echoed the colours in the papers.
I also cut out circles from one of the papers, then scrunched them up before adding to the page with a brad.
Here is Liz's original layout that inspired us.

And here is her original sketch. We would love to see you join in with us on this challenge, it really was great fun to create. Why not pop over to Scrapology and see what the other members of the DT have created.

One Layout, 2 Colourways

I thought I would share a couple of layouts with you that I made a few weeks ago. They are the same page, but just completed in different colourways :)
The first one is using papers by GCD Studios and are from the Paris Nights collection. I just added some swirls cut from Bazill, printed out butterflies, large mulberry flat flowers and a little black doily. The mulberry flowers were gently misted with Cosmic Shimmer mists and I used Stickles on the sprial roses and the butterfly wings.

I distressed each layer of paper by picking at the edges once they were stuck done. I finished it off with a few flat backed pearls.

And here it is in the other colourway. This time I used Basic Grey Ambrosia papers and also misted the swirls.

Right, I am off to pack my smallest girlies bag for camp. She is off tomorrow to an activity camp with her class and I am one of the designated drivers Unfortunately not too many miles away from the camp is The Craft Barn ;).....I guess I will just HAVE to force myself to drive on a few miles more and visit....it would be rude not to eh ;) lol.
Have a lovely evening.
Warmest wishes Anita..xxx

Belated Sunday Scrapping and Strawberry Spongecake

I know, I know...it's Monday today...yep I am a little late blogging this.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend? I know I did. I spent a lovely day out in Lewes on Saturday with 2 lovely friends of mine. It was really nice to just mooch about, grab lunch, mooch a little more and then sit by the riverside in a Brasserie for a lovely cuppa, chat and put the world to rights!

Yesterday I went to a booty in the morning and then came home and ironed a mountain of the dreaded crumpled stuff before sitting down to finish this layout.
I can't believe how simple and plain this page is for me....no tonnage of flowers, or Stickles or ripping or scrunching.....but I quite like it!
Its all about Lauren and 2 awards she won last year ( yes I i know I have boobed on the layout and put 2009....I have since changed it to 2010 LOL)
The journalling is tiny and is printed onto transparency and laid across the bottom of the page. I spritzed the background white bazzill with some Cosmic Shimmer Mist from Cardinal Colours
and then using a variety of colours of acrylic paint I then used some star shaped cookie cutters to stamp some stars onto the background.

I also used just a thin strip of bright paper and ran it through my MS deep edge punch and used various stickers to make the title and add the date ( albeit it the wrong one in this photo !!!LOL)

After scrapping I thought we all needed a slice of cake, so I whipped up this spongecake and filled it with yummy strawberry jam and butter cream.....and very tasty it was too!

Unfortunately after being in bed for only a very short time I was struck down with very violent sickness and bad tummy :( , thankfully it seems confined to only me...so it can't have been my home made cake!) so I have spent today feeling very empty, uncomfy and sorry for myself. Hope tonight is better.
