M is for Mixed Media over at Scrapology

We are scraplifting our very own design team member LINDA this month by creating a page using many different mediums together on one layout.
 I REALLY enjoyed playing with this page and adding all the various layers of paint, mists, webbing spray etc

 We started off with a 12 x 12" peice of greyboard, which was painted with Gesso.

 

 I then used a harlequin mask and some Sparkle Medium in Turquoise ( thanks Linda)......
and then just went wild with Cosmic Shimmer Sprays, some sprayed, some dribbled....silver webbing spray, large chuck glitter flakes, sequins, crystals, blossoms, buttons and headed pins. I also added some denim and organza scraps.....gosh I DID enjoy all the mess and sparkle.....and discovered in the process of creating this peice....that a little really DOES go a long way.....a LONG LONG way....but it doesn;t matter does it....because everyone likes a bit of sparkle in their lives ;)


The photo is of my 2 gorgeous girls, taken in the springtime in 2011, at Abbots Wood, when we were out on a walk looking at the Bluebells.

Scrapology May Card Challenge

Over at Scrapology this month we have a new card challenge....set by our lovely and super- talented friend Zoe Pierson

The theme was 'Thanks' and this one of my 2 cards that I created for the DT. Its to celebrate mine ( and Zoe's lol) absolute love for those delicious little green orbs...AKA brussell sprouts lol! Well ok.....its only me who loves them ;)

I used a lovely fairy from Kraftin Kimmies ( thanks Linda) and coloured her in with my Promarkers and cut out with a scalloped edge nestie. The background is sprout wrapping paper ( from a lovely birthday pressie from Linda and Lynn, thank girls xx) and then have added some angel hair mesh, crochet net, various blossoms and crystals....and LOTS of Stickles!

I made the decorative pin using some beads from my stash.

Once Upon A Time.....

..... there was a beautiful Princess. I thought I would post a couple of layouts that I made last year, at a retreat that I attend each year with some lovely friends...and we are going to all get together again in a few weeks, I can't wait!

This had to be one of the only times I have ever bought some new papers AND actually used them the day after I got them instead of admiring them and then leaving them in the paper bag they came in LOL.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this page, I think the paper is Crate Paper and then I did my normal *throw it all on and cut some bits out routine*, I love the page....and more importantly so did my beautiful little Princess :)

My 2nd page is called Melon Muncher and I just HAD to scrap these pics of Lauren and her melon munch on the beach at Pevensey. I normally steer clear of very bright colours( I prefer grungey, inky,murky colours lol). The cute bear at the top was a paper peicing I bought on ebay :) Really looking forwards to the good weather and the chance to hit the beach again this year.

Well, I know old work is a bit of a cop-out for blogging, but, I have got a couple of new bits that I am going to post on saturday, but can't before then incase someone else see's them ;).

Must dash as I am off tonight to see the closing night of a play that Lauren is in, I can't wait and have been warned to take some tissues, apparently its quite a tear jerker...and as I am soft mare anyway its pretty much in the bag that the mascara will be running! Have a lovely evening..xxxx

Simply Irresistable........

.....thats what she is! Today I came home from work, took Chloe to school, came back home again and made a cuppa and then......had the overwhelming urge to scrap!!!!! Yes, scrap! And not a class page either, nope, I wanted to actually scrap just because! I cannot remember the last time that happened.

So I pulled out this photo of Chloe from a loooong time ago and pulled out a mix of papers in teals, turq, winter white and browns and then had a good long rummage through my stash for lace, brads, leather thong, string and crystals....and the odd blossom( which I just HAD to ink LOL)

I have punched, layered, hammered, threaded and glued....stabbed my fingers on brads( being careful not to get any red on the page!) If it hasn't moved I have inked it LOL and then....

Just when I thought it was finished.....I spied my bag of lushious Ice Stickles that my best friend Sue gave me for Christmas( waves to Sue ..xxx) Soooooo I had a bit of a Stickle Fest and this page just sparkles with THE most beautiful tones now. Have you tried ICE STICKLES yet?

Well, I have to say I am truly in love with this layout and I think I might even pop it into a box frame and hang it up instead of packing it away in an album.

A masculine card and one for a friend.

I have had both the girls off school today due to the snow and lots of teachers not being able to get in. Its strange nowadays, the teachers seem to come from miles away to the schools, years ago it used to be local people that were the teachers, sometimes with the caretaker or head even living right next to the school itself.

Anyway, Lauren went out for a few hours and played in the snow with her friends, Chloe stayed in the warm with me and we crafted. I managed to make 2 cards, the first one being the first proper masculine card I have ever made. This is a Thank you from the girls to a guy I used to work with, He sends them £5 in a christmas card every year, bless him. He plays guitar for a local country and western band and so I thought he might like this style of card.

The 2nd card was a 8 x 8 birthday one, that I bought already pre- embossed. I used one of the other lovely images that Karen kindly stamped for me ( Thank you Karen..xx). I also used my 2" square punch and my Martha Stewart doily lace punch and a mixture of various blossoms. Also popped on a couple of dangly charms I made. I hope my friend likes it :)

Well, we now have nearly 5 inches of snow on our front lawn, the grass disappeared under it this morning by 11am and the road is dreadful. The main roads through the town were ok about 7pm, but a friend just text and said how bad they are now. I guess its going to be pretty crappy in the morning as they have forecast it minus 4 overnight, so all that lovely soft fluffy stuff will be lethal.... Oh well...xxx stay safe!..xx

Sunday catch up.........

I didn't get chance to upload my photos yesterday, so thought i would today.

The first one is of a card I made on friday and just needed to finish by adding a pearl pin and a silver charm

Yesterday we had our monthly crop at Jills ( Cardinal Colours) and as always it was a fabulous day out with some very lovely company. Most of us were cardmaking yesterday and I was lucky enough to have a chance to try out some Promarkers and some Copics ( thank you so much Lynn and Linda, you are gems.) I have to say I got on better with the Promarkers, although the stunning array of colours that Linda had in her huuuuuge set of Copics had me feeling like a kid in a candy shop!

Here is a card I made yesterday using Lynn's Promarkers and a lovely Tilda image that Karen very kindly gave me in a huge envelope filled with stamped images ( thank you so much Karen, you are so kind).

I thoroughly enjoyed making this card and am looking forwards to finding some time this week to make some more.

We were celebrating Linda's birthday this month and Lynn bought along a beautiful display of yummy cupcakes that she had made and put on display in a gorgeous cake stand.

I made a Raspberryoffee Pie, its the exact same recipe as a Bannoffee but you substitute with Raspberries instead.

One tip I would give, if you decide to try it yourself, is to use frozen rasps, its so much harder trying to spread caramel and then the cream over them if they are fresh and soggy, the frozen ones are still full of flavour and sit nicely behaving themselves whilst you do the rest of the pie. I also use the Nestle ready to pour Caramel, its soooo much easier than faffing about boiling a tin of condensed milk for goodness knows how long. T o finish the pie off after topping it with whipped up double cream, I crumble up a Cadburys Flake and crumble across the top. Yummy!
