The* Early Bird* catches the worm....

One of my favourite paper collections to come out for a long time has been Early Bird by Cosmo Cricket, I love the vintagey/retro feel about it and its easy to work with.

Before I got to actually scrap with it I decided to have a play with an old wooden photo frame. I painted it with a Barn Red Acrylic and then coated it with PVA glue. When that was dry I then covered it with Cream acrylic and waited for all the crackles to appear ( obviously there are crackle mediums you can buy too, but I am a cheapskate lol).

I cut out various bits and bobs off of the sheets and added a photo, some AC Thickers and some cup hooks and ...Voila!....... a key holder that hangs in the hallway for us all to use.

After a blog hopping session one day I bounced from Jill's Blog http://acalendarofcolours.blogspot.com/ and came across the Dotty Divas blog http://dottydivas.blogspot.com/ where they have an Ad challenge going on. You had to take inspiration from this advert in any way you like. So here is what I created....and I have to say I LOVE IT!

Back in June we spent a weekend away up in York, which is beautiful and I very much want to return sometime. Anyway, on the way up we stumbled across this American style Diner,

it was fantastic and looked as though we had stepped back into the 50's( I half expected The Fonz to swagger through the door at any time)....the food, the music, the furniture and decor and even the waiters and waitresses uniform were spot on and it was a fab experience. Lauren had her first ever coke float and huge stack of pancakes with maple syrup, whilst rest of us had what we fancied and then we carried on our way to York. I wish they had these diner's down South, but sadly not ( although to be honest maybe thats a good thing!)

  1. Wow Anita love your pages - the key holder is inspiring and the coke float is great fun! The American Diner looks and sounds fantastic - the mention of a huge stack of pancakes and maple syrup sounds mouthwatering! As you say probably just as well we don't have them down south!

  2. So much to look at and comment on here Anita. Loved watching you make that fab LO on Saturday. Those papers are lovely, I have used them several times and still have some left over. May be some scraplifting going on over here!!
Great idea about the card holder and what a great tip about using the PVA as crackle medium. Must try that.
